From the beginning of computer spreadsheets with VisiCalc on Apple II people have been finding the value of an electronic file that provides the opportunity to perform "what-if?" analyses, and immediately see the results of those changes, even in the most complicated structure.

The Finance Director of an international medical device company contacted me with a need to update and process a large and complicated budget model. It had been developed by someone else and that person was no longer around, and budget season was coming soon. I was able to sort out the system (that had little documentation), make substantial changes to both the formulas and the automated VBA programming to accommodate new rules for the current year budget. The final budget models were built and distributed on time. Client X was so satisfied that I continued to update the budget model each year for over 10 years, with new features and improved peformance.

The Sales Manager of a traffic control equipment manufacturer needed a way for the sales force to configure quotes for their customers. The devices they sold came with an ititial configuration, but had substantial customization options for each product, and the client needed to build quotes quickly. I was able to build a simple to use single page for selecting the devices and customized options, while with the customer, and then a page with a complete quote was ready for email or printing. This saved the sales force a substantial number of hours trying to assemble the quotes, and then send to the customer.

A scattered and disconnected set of numbers on a spreadsheet was provided by the CEO of a developing recreational equipment builder. They were having trouble communicating with their outside Business Analyst and nothing was moving along. I was able to sort out and organize the data into a clear model to project sales and expenses. They could then input the current numbers and provide forecasting for the next 3 years. They were pleased with the ease of using the spreadsheet and able to present something the analyst could easily understand.
